After years of dealing with glasses that just wouldn’t stay put and drove me nuts, I thought investing in a custom pair might be the answer.

I set up a Zoom call with an optician. They take your measurements, suggest tweaks (like adjusting the width or where they sit on your face), and then give you a price for the frames and lenses. Honestly, I nearly passed out when I heard the cost, but I figured it was worth it since a.) I wear them daily, and b.) I wouldn’t have to mess with them a million times a day. I asked if they’d make a prototype or something I could try on to adjust the fit before the final pair was made, and the optician was so confident—almost cocky—that their virtual fitting was spot on, insisting I wouldn’t need a prototype and that my glasses would fit like a dream.

It took about five weeks for my glasses to arrive. I was pumped to get them, but that excitement faded fast. When I put them on, the top of the frames were right at my pupils—if I wanted to see, I had to push them up my nose. And guess what? They just slid right back down. They were super loose behind my ears, and the nose pads were skinny and really uncomfortable on my wide, flat nose bridge. All these issues were the same ones I had with cheaper glasses before. I thought these custom ones would solve all my problems, but I was dead wrong. They fit worse than about 75% of the glasses I’ve bought off the shelf. So much for perfection.

I reached out to them. It took a few days for a response. They sent me a video showing how to bend the ear pieces to adjust my so-called 'custom' glasses. If I’m dropping over $700 on a pair, I expect them to fit and work right.

I followed the video instructions, wore them for a couple more days, and they still slid down my nose, causing pain and irritation behind my ears. I wrote to them again, waited, and was asked to send photos. I did that, then sent more photos after a few days. Eventually, they decided to make a new pair for me.

Weeks went by with no updates. I wrote in again and had to wait some more. They said, 'Oh, we’re talking with our design team. We’ll keep you posted.' This back-and-forth continued, and now it’s been seven weeks since I first contacted them about my poorly fitting frames, and the new ones aren’t even ready yet. I’ve had to reach out first every time, and their replies take forever. If they even reply at all.

I’m completely fed up with the hype around this 'perfect' eyewear. Meanwhile, I’m stuck with a pair of glasses that fit horribly, require constant adjusting, hurt my head and ears, and rub my nose raw. I’m just not impressed.

I’ve got a small face and a tiny nose to match. Aside from one other eyewear brand, it’s tough to find glasses that suit someone like me. For a long time, wireframes were my only choice, but they always pinched and never fit right. Then I discovered Topology—my first pair of acetate frames, and they fit like a dream. I’ve been using their glasses for two years now, and it would’ve been three if I hadn’t needed to switch to progressives. They suggest getting your first pair of progressives from your eye doctor. Honestly, I kinda wish I hadn’t listened because the ones from my doc were terrible. From now on, I’m sticking with Topology for my eyewear.

Alright, I finally received my glasses after over 7 weeks, but they just don’t fit right. They keep sliding down my nose all the time. I paid more than I ever have, waited longer than I ever have, and they fit worse than any other pair I've had. I won't be going back to Topography.

I would’ve given a full 5-star rating, but since there was a delay in shipping, I’m settling for 4 stars to encourage improvement. All in all, I’m really pleased with my new eyeglasses. It was clear they were tailored just for me since the fit was spot on. I was a bit anxious before trying them on, worried they wouldn’t fit, but I was pleasantly surprised. These are definitely among my favorite pairs I’ve ever had. Another small issue, aside from the shipping delay, was the case it came in. I’d much rather have a straightforward box instead of that triangular ‘figure it out yourself’ type of case. Still, I’m super happy with my eyeglasses and can’t wait to place another order soon.

Farrah, Natasha, and Natalie are just amazing. The customer service? It's off the charts, like a solid 20! I'm really loving my new specs. I've always had to go for kids' glasses due to my narrow face. Big thanks to the trio plus one! I believe Juan is the one who crafted my glasses. Hats off to him!

I'm a huge fan of Topology Eyewear. Eric and his crew helped me create two custom frames for my high prescription of -21. I was on the hunt for a really small lens frame that I just couldn't find anywhere. Topology managed to replicate my favorite tiny lens frames that were falling apart due to age. The service level and the time spent crafting samples and making tiny adjustments until the frames were just right is truly outstanding. I’m thrilled to have frames that fit my face perfectly in the color I wanted. My new specs are super light and durable; I don’t have to keep pushing them up my nose anymore!

This company really puts in the effort to make things right for you. In my situation, (and let me tell ya, I’m a tough nut with a broken nose), it required some extra time and effort from both sides, but they hung in there, and the end results are quite impressive. They’re lightweight, comfy, and look just how I envisioned. These are completely custom-made, prototypes and all, so don’t think you’ll get your finished eyewear in just a couple of weeks. Mine took a good bit longer.

Fantastic product and service! As someone with an Asian face, I’ve struggled to find acetate glasses that don’t touch my eyelashes and slide down my nose.

These are just great. I hardly notice them, and they stay put really well.

It took nearly two months to receive the initial prototype. At that pace, given that it didn’t suit my face or resemble the 'virtual fitting' whatsoever, I could easily see the final product taking a year or longer. I got my full refund right away, just a few hours after reaching out about my disappointment, so they clearly know they’re not doing a great job. I wouldn’t suggest this to anyone.

As an eye doctor, I’ve been sporting glasses for many years. I created a custom pair of shades on the Topology website and got them a couple of weeks after. Honestly, they’re the finest glasses I’ve ever had, and I’m always getting tons of compliments on how stylish they are. I’m planning to design and order all my eyewear from Topology moving forward and will definitely suggest them to my patients.

I'm quite fond of the glasses. The process took a bit longer than expected to receive them, and sadly, the lenses weren't quite right... I guess it's tough to determine the pupil position from pictures, but Topology gave me a refund for the lens part, so I could get my own lenses fitted. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome. Definitely worth the wait.
